What is a flatlay?

Flatlays for weddings are simple, it's all in the details; literally. A flatlay is designed to show off your invitations, save the dates, shoes, jewelry, any small piece you want documented in a timeless way. These photos are typically taken from above looking down on the subject. (examples below) The best and most loved part of flatlays is that they are always unique to you. No two are ever going to be the same. From custom backgrounds to editorial styles, every one is perfect in its own way.

Alright brides, if you're wondering what you can do to make your photographer's life a little easier when it comes to capturing your details for your wedding day, here's your guide. First and foremost I highly suggest getting a storage container. Now you can go about this two different ways: Option 1, get or find in your own home a storage bin, basket, or container. Bonus points if it has a lid (better for weather, keeping things together, and dust control). Option 2, for the keepsake girlies like me you can get customizable trunks to keep your detail things in and then bonus after the wedding use it as your keepsake box.
